Be a Red Cross Champion

by Singapore Red Cross Society

(Note: As the Benevity platforms do not support tax effectiveness in Singapore, donations made would not be tax-deductible.)

Dear Friend,

At the Singapore Red Cross, our mission is protecting human life and dignity by reliving human suffering. We are involved in providing humanitarian services that are not readily available to the vulnerable, and are not publicly funded. Today, over 20,000 Singaporeans are cared for by the Singapore Red Cross each year. Through our community services, we uplift disadvantaged individuals and families, and those who fall through the cracks of social service.

We champion for persons with severe disability; the elderly who live on their own; and the single-parents and skipped generation families who need a listening ear and a helping hand.

There are 150 families on our Family Life Aid programme which provides them with meals with love, reading programmes for 80 students in kindergarten & lower primary and tuition for upper primary students.

Against the backdrop of COVID-19’s serious and far-reaching effects on low-income families, SRC offers basic employability training and job facilitation for Singaporeans, whose livelihoods were affected.

All this in addition to our core national duties of training and providing first aid, blood donor recruitment and international disaster relief which we are well known for.
What is not obvious to the public is that besides the available subsidies, we need to raise $4 million to support the various humanitarian services we provide to the community, only in Singapore.

As a Singapore Red Cross Champion, you'll belong to a special group of Singapore Red Cross’ most passionate and forward-thinking supporters.

Your gift can help provide the sustained resources needed to accelerate the pace and scale of Singapore Red Cross' work.

Here are some ways your donation is helping the less privileged:

"The FoodAid service provided by the Singapore Red Cross is useful because the food vouchers enable us to purchase fish, meat and vegetables that we don't get much of as food rations from other organisations provide primarily dry and canned food like maggi noodles, which may not be healthy for my children over the long-term." - Mdm Tan Meang Hui, FoodAid Beneficiary

"They are very good, very sincere and very helpful. Besides visiting me once a month, they would also call and check with me if I am doing well." - Mr De Silva Petiyaga, CLARE Beneficiary.

Local Community Efforts

Since the start of the pandemic, SRC has continued to reach out to its existing beneficiaries and clients, and provide them with essential care service.

As restrictions on the safe distancing measures gradually eases, SRC has been ramping up on community engagement activities, both online and offline.

Following the customised care packages initiative introduced in 2020, SRC has continued with monthly distribution of essentials (medical, hygiene, food and household supplies) to 220 seniors.

As part of our Young Hearts programme for at-risk children and youth, SRC has recently established an interim Children’s Centre at Nee Soon East. Intended as a safe space for hybrid learning and interaction, the Centre runs weekly tuition and digital workshops (in-person or online), led by volunteers.

- TransportAid, enables the elderly and/or disabled from low-income homes to get to and from their medical treatments, rehabilitation and daycare centres.

- Family LifeAid, provides food vouchers and nutritious food to skipped generation, single-elderly and single-parent families, hand-delivered with love.

- Centre for Occupational Learning and Employment (COLE) mitigates the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the livelihoods of vulnerable communities, through basic employability training and job facilitation for Singaporeans.

"Singapore Red Cross is known for its disaster relief, but the impact of its local services is much closer to home for us.

The TransportAid service enables my mother to get to her medical appointments largely subsidized. I hope Singaporeans will continue to give generously to local causes." - Ms Choo Peck See, TransportAid Beneficiary
