Hurricane John has left a trail of destruction in the Mexico´s Pacific Coast

チャリティ活動名 UNICEF México

On September 24th Hurricane John made landfall as category 3 in the Mexico's Pacific Coast. On September 26th, Hurricane John had a second impact, this time as category 1 on the coasts of Guerrero, Oaxaca, Michoacán, and Colima.

The impact of the hurricane has left many children without access to clean water, food, health services, nutrition, or education. Entire families have been quickly evacuated and housed in temporary shelters. In Guerrero, 35 shelters out of 627 existing in the state, have been enabled.

Since September 29th, UNICEF has maintained contact with the authorities of the states of Oaxaca and Guerrero and has participated in the initial meeting of the sectoral groups of coordination in emergency to collect initial information and jointly carry out the first needs assessments.

The UNICEF team is already evaluating the effects and action plans for the emergency. Hand in hand with federal, state, and municipal authorities, UNICEF teams are ready to contribute to:
1. Restoring access to clean water, hygiene, and sanitation for affected families
2. Support schools for a safe return, creating spaces where affected children can receive psycho-social care.
3. Caring for children who may have been separated from their families.
4. Reducing the risk of abuse and exploitation and gender-based violence.
5. Facilitate and promote access to healthy nutrition and quality health services.

Donate now and together let's make a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable!
